Online Communication

Theresa's and my Online Communication event kicked off yesterday and there has been good participation in that all hats under Task 1 and 3 have been active and comments under Task 2 have been flowing as well. I'm finding it difficult to know which hat to place my remarks under and can see how important the role of the facilitator is. I found it easier to post under the hats in Sheila's SlumDog Millionaire event and perhaps that's because we didn't have to keep up a conversation. [To log in: Username: participant; Password: usq]

Bartlett (2008) ‘Effective facilitation (sometimes called moderation) is arguably the single biggest factor in the success of an online community’ (Backroad Connections, 2003, p.
3). ... unique communication challenges face online facilitators when developing community in the
online environment. As such, it cannot be assumed that teachers and students have the necessary skills required to communicate and behave in an online learning community (Coghlan, 200)

Today was a really special day. I attended Don's immigration interview and ceremony. He is officially a permanent resident of Canada!
